D+D X Fracap

Have you ever wondered about the process behind each shoe to leave DUKE + DEXTER’s drawing board? In collaboration with Italian footwear maestros Fracap, we have pulled out all the stops in designing a four-part hiking capsule to pitch the Darwin boot against the elements.

Using a mould refined by the Italian military, no Fracap boot skimps on quality inside or out. Alfredo Cappello’s family-run brand cushions each upper with a premium, all leather lining and Italian calf leather ‘cuoio’ across the insole, allowing your feet to continue breathing in the same way since early 20th century production began.

Whilst Fracap’s defining cornerstones haven’t changed, we’ve seen a few tweaks in manufacturing to remain current, just as we’ve seen the brand change hands from generation to generation, maintaining core DNA found in every welt stitch without stepping away from everything Fracap stands for - punched D-ring eyelets and all.

However, the updated outsole does tell a story of change; where recycled bicycle tyres were once found beneath military-grade canvas and a vegetable-tanned leather upper, we added Vibram’s lugged Commando sole for even more grip on both wet and dry surfaces. If the Commando sole can conquer Everest, there’s a good chance that Brick Lane’s cobbled backstreets will be no challenge.

Now you know how they’re made, it’s time to put your D+D x Fracap Darwin hiking boots to the test - reserve your Right to Roam with Duke + Dexter this winter.
