Introducing The Mary Jane

THE MARY JANE - OUR FIRST STYLE EXCLUSIVELY FOR THE LADIES

Over the past 12 months we have been on a journey to create our very first silhouette exclusively for women and soon we will finally get to release it into the wild in the form of our all new D+D Mary Jane.

The first Mary Jane was introduced long before we were even an idea. During the 20th Century, the aptly-named ‘Bar’ shoe became popular due to a single, or a multitude of straps fixed across the foot. Traces of a single-strapped style worn by wealthy men can be found during the European Renaissance, too.

This style later adopted the Mary Jane title as they were adorned by one specific charactering featuring within the Buster Brown comic strip. Mary Jane. How simple. Not many styles can attribute their name to a fictional character. Anyway, history wasn’t enough to us. We had the template, but we had to make it ours.

From scratch - the final sole depth, strap positioning, buckle options, a custom printed lining. This and more. Our very own. Our take on the Mary Jane. Made specifically with the D+D girls in mind.
